Pendleton Wood Insert
Nearly a century and a half ago, pioneers walked across open prairies and rugged mountains to reach the Great Northwest . The Pendleton uniquely manifests the comfort and serenity they found at the end of their long and tiresome journey.
The Pendleton may be compact, but its heating capacity exceeds most other small inserts. Perfect for a single room or small home, the Pendleton combines radiant and convective technologies to provide up to 64,200 Btu's. Yet as just 3 grams of emissions per hour, the Pendleton is one of the cleanest burning small stoves ever tested. Available with either a 90º or 45º flue, the Pendleton can fit most masonry and metal (zero clearance) fireplaces (the 45º flue unit also features a convenient cook-top surface). And if you move or heating needs change, the Pendleton can be converted into a freestanding wood stove.

Avalon stoves and inserts can be painted in a variety of colors (ask your dealer if they provide custom color choices).
The elegant etched glass options feature graceful, band-crafted scenes of the Great Northwest.
Doors are available in solid cast brass and black cast aluminum. Each features a high temperature ceramic gasket for an air-tight seal around the glass.
Quiet, yet powerful front and rear blowers are available to help circulate heat to adjoining rooms.
Three panel sizes are available to fit a wide range of fireplace openings.
The extra-large ashpan offers increased capacity for reduced maintenance between burns and a safety cover for hassle-free ash removal. Available for the Rainier and Olympic woodstoves.
Avalon woodstoves are proven performers, having achieved one of the highest overall ratings for efficiency of non-catalytic woodstoves from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality. The E.P.A. Phase II certified combustion system burns so thoroughly that there is very little visible smoke and very little ash to remove. The non-catalytic design perfectly balances the three "Ts" of combustion:
Turbulence, Temperature, and Time
A single Draft control (1) is operated to meter combustion air to a manifold (2), which distributes air to the stay-clean air wash (3) and the primary burn zone (4). The multiple secondary burn tubes (5) are self-regulating and will automatically adjust the airflow as needed. This balance of combustion air in the correct proportion and location easily starts and sustains the primary fire, and provides a steady stream of fresh air across the viewing glass to help keep it clear. Fresh air is injected above the primary fire which creates the necessary turbulence to mix fresh oxygen with the unburned gases produced by the fire.
Elevated temperatures within the firebox are necessary to ignite the oxygen-rich gas mixture to reduce emissions and increase efficiency. Several components work in conjunction to achieve this. The firebox floor and walls (6) are lined with dense, clay firebrick. The removable brick baffle (7) features the same material, which absorbs heat, then radiates it back into the unburned gases. The seamless unibody construction (8), is the finest 3/16", ¼", and 5/16" plate steel for years of dependable service. Even the flue collar, which is subject to extremely high temperatures, is 5/16" thick. This heavy duty steel also contributes to higher internal firebox temperatures.
The angle, shape, and size of the masonry baffle assembly (7) has been engineered to maximize residence time of the unburned gases and will still allow the stove to draft adequately. This delay of the escaping, unburned gas and the turbulent introduction of oxygen combine with the elevated temperatures to create a balanced combustion environment. The result is a beautiful fire to watch and clean burning and efficient to operate.
In addition to radiant heat, which only warms objects within the room, all Avalon wood-burning appliances feature a five-sided convection chamber to circulate room air around the stove and push warm air back into the room. This dynamic process circulates warm air to other areas of your home without using a blower.
Avalon offers a wide range of options to enhance your stove and reflect your own unique sense of style. From living rooms and bedrooms to kitchens. Avalon stoves can be customized to fit virtually any décor.
